Ducks and dahlias. They were made for each other!

We maintain a closed flock of heritage Ancona ducks. This is an American breed popularized by renowned Oregon plant breeder Carol Deppe in The Resilient Gardener. Our breeding stock is from Heritage Meadows Farms in Indiana. We chose to import these particular genetics from Indiana because they’ve been stewarded for true dual purpose use— i.e. the extra males are big enough to eat! We never breed a drake who weighs under 7.0lbs. The hens are excellent producers of large white eggs. Both hens and drakes are voracious hunters of slugs, and produce copious amounts of fertilizer. And they make us laugh!

We sell hatching eggs and live birds locally in the spring. We aren’t NPIP certified, so we don’t ship eggs or birds. If you’re interested in shipped eggs, we highly recommend contacting Amy at Heritage Meadows Farm.

There’s nothing sweeter than a little flock of imprinted ducklings following you around the garden. Email us at frisbiefamilyfarm@gmail.com or follow us online if you’re interested in day-old, ready-to-imprint ducklings in May/June/July.
